P*DA x Temasek Polytechnic: Designing the Future of Singapore’s landscape by Professor Thomas Schroepfer, Lead Designer of The Future of Us Pavilion

Our P*DA 2018 Exhibition made its fifth stop at Temasek Polytechnic’s (TP), School of Design! The multi-media exhibition travelled to TP from 16 October to 5 November 2018, where working models, prototypes and special exhibits were also on display.

On 29 October 2018, the Lead Designer of The Future of Us Pavilion, Professor Thomas Schroepfer, was invited to share with TP’s design and engineering students on how his team’s parametric and algorithmic approaches in designing the Pavilion won them the P*DA Design of the Year.

He shared valuable insights on the processes and challenges the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) design team faced in creating and developing the Future of Us Pavilion. The award winning project is now a permanent icon of Singapore’s landscape and an intrinsic part of the Gardens by the Bay. Professor Schroepfer’s talk was insightful and engaging and inspired all those who attended, proving that great designs can indeed lead to great impact. Watch this space for more highlights of the talk!

Visit the P*DA Exhibition at the the SUTD Campus Centre from 5 November to 10 December 2018. For more locations of our travelling exhibition, visit here! You can also head over to DesignSingapore Council’s Youtube channel and our Award Recipients’ page to find out more!

*This talk is part of the P*DA’s Exhibition Community Activations conducted by our P*DA recipients to raise awareness of Singapore’s design to the larger community and to nurture and inspire the next generation of designers.
