P*DA x Singapore Polytechnic: Social Media Buzz
The President’s Design Award 2016 exhibition was proudly hosted by Singapore Polytechnic for two months in their newly-renovated library!
In conjunction with the exhibition, Singapore Polytechnic Library ran an Instagram contest inviting students to take pictures of great designs used in daily life such as architecture to household appliances. The contest ran from 3rd July to 31st August 2017. The competition’s aim was to recognise and appreciate design and its purpose.
The hashtag #PresidentsDesignAwardSG was created specially for this occasion. The competition attracted 44 entries and about 500 views! Students displayed their creativity with various captivating image posts on xyz types of design.
The posts portrayed the fine architectural beauty of Singapore’s prominent structures such as Chijmes, Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay. It also included some mesmeric nature-based shots of Singapore’s attractions of Coney Island and Lorong Halus Wetlands.
Not to forget; simple detailed shots reflecting the importance of design that is often missed out on a daily basis such as close-up shots of drinking cans and MRT handle bars. The highest response received a total of 258 likes of a participant’s distinctive image showing the design of Singapore’s Marina Coastal Expressway.
The President’s Design Awards team and Singapore Polytechnic Library team will be selecting winners shortly. Please watch this space! Three lucky students will walk away with customised editions of Bynd Artisan sketchbooks! Bynd Artisan is one of our 2016 recipients, and generously co-sponsored the prizes.
The President’s Designs Award team would like to thank our venue sponsors and Singapore Polytechnic Library for hosting us.
