President’s Design Award 2016 Award Recipients’ Forum

National Design Centre, Auditorium

Friday, 16 December 2016

Session 1: 10.30am – 12.00pm

Session 2: 3.30pm – 5pm

Session 1 Topic

Renew & Rejuvenate by Design

How does design breathe new life into old ideas? Four President’s Design Award recipients will present projects that show how design can help us look at old problems with new eyes. Listen to how they have rebranded a fading craft to provide jobs for aging craftsmen, re-engineered medical equipment to save more lives, revamped an old building into a contemporary creative hub, and reinvented an everyday product to benefit the environment and business alike.

Session 2 Topic

People @ the Heart of the Design Process

What does it mean to truly design for people? Four President’s Design Award recipients will share their journeys in harnessing user insights, ethnographic studies and extensive research to create outcomes that touch people’s lives. Hear how the designers behind complex engineering structures, a transformative community space, a mobile medical device and a powerful office printer have put their users at heart of the design process.
