Christina Melander is programme director at the Danish Design Centre. For also two decades Christina’s work has focused on design and business development, exploring the potential of design methods to meet businesses’ needs to develop new products, solutions, business models and markets.

Apart from being strategically and operationally responsible for the Danish Design Award, she has massive experience in designing and running design business programmes for the Danish Design Centre. She also offers professional assistance and feedback to the DDC’s project managers.

Christina is committed to disseminating knowledge about how design helps drive important positive changes and why companies that use design strategically do better, create more jobs and generate more growth. Therefore, Christina is passionate about initiating and carrying out programmes and projects aimed at not only conveying good stories but inspire real-life action.

Currently, Christina is leading the DDC strategic platform Design Dimensions that focus on the transformations in the design field, both the concept of design, the design industry and Danish Design DNA.

Also Christina is leading the work of Exploring Design Impact that measures the value creation of design, Design for Europe (co-funded by the European Commission), which is a European platform for design-driven innovation to strengthen all European countries and regions in the field of design driven innovation aimed at businesses as well as the public sector and governments and policy makers, and Nordic Design Resource that is developing a new design typology in all the Nordic countries as well as developing new methodology for mapping the entire design field.

Christina has been with the DDC since 2000 and holds an MSc in Design and Communication Management from the Copenhagen Business School.
