Designing for Humanity: Wicked Problems, Wicked Solutions
In our increasingly complex world, wicked problems – systemic, complex issues like climate change, income inequality and affordable healthcare – need wicked solutions –actions that are multi-disciplinary, human-centred and collaborative.
Designers attempting to create wicked solutions make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities – both at home and around the world – face an uphill challenge because they must often grapple with contradicting requirements or disrupt existing social models.
Designing for Humanity: Wicked Problems, Wicked Solutions, co-presented by the DesignSingapore Council and D&AD, celebrates impactful designs drawn from the Black and White Pencil-winning designs of the D&AD Impact Awards 2018. Their impact can be seen in architecture and the built environment, as well as in products, visual communications and services, addressing pressing issues in areas such as equality, diversity and environmental sustainability.
The exhibition showcase will be here at the National Design Centre, Level 1 Gallery, from 13 May to 31 May 2019. So do come down and check out the exhibition!
